NAFA Opens Applications for 2026 Green Fleet Awards, Expanding Recognition of Sustainable Fleet Practices
Edison, N.J. (June 4, 2026) – NAFA Fleet Management Association (NAFA), the vehicle fleet industry’s largest membership association, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 Green Fleet Awards. This prestigious annual program recognizes peak-performing fleets across North America that are leading the way in sustainability and environmental stewardship. The contest highlights innovative and impactful initiatives that are advancing the future of fleet operations.
“The Green Fleet Awards highlight the innovation and commitment driving meaningful progress in sustainable fleet operations,” said Bill Schankel, CAE, CEO of NAFA. “From reducing emissions to implementing forward-thinking policies and technologies, these fleets are setting the standard for what’s possible. NAFA is proud to recognize and support their efforts.”
Open to both government and commercial fleets, the Green Fleet Awards are free to enter and designed to reflect the unique challenges and requirements of today’s fleet professionals. Applicants are evaluated across a comprehensive set of criteria, including fleet composition, fuel and emissions, green accomplishments, outreach, policies and planning, fuel-saving technologies, and executive and employee engagement.
New for 2026, the program has expanded to include a category focused on sustainable fleet facilities. One fleet applicant will be recognized with the Green Garage Award, highlighting leadership in environmentally responsible facility design and operations.
Applications for the 2026 Green Fleet Awards close June 26. Winners will be announced on August 25 at the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference & Expo 2026 in Durham, North Carolina, where industry leaders will gather to explore the latest advancements in fleet sustainability.
