SUMMARY:CAFM Office Hours: Vehicle Fuel Management with Patti Earley (July 2026)
DESCRIPTION:The notion of “office hours” traces its roots back to an academic tradition. Now\, you have the opportunity to benefit from Office Hours as well!  Rather than meeting with professors\, you’ll have the chance to connect with a busy\, knowledgeable\, well-connected CAFM who has dedicated time specifically for you and your fellow candidates. As you aspire to attain your CAFM\, your Office Hours Host is here to assist.   \nIn this session\, our faculty will: \n• showcase his career journey and experiences \n• teach a 30-minute insider lesson on one competency – Vehicle Fuel Management \n• share their favorite test taking pro-tip  \n• engage in open dialogue to answer your questions  \nMeet Your Host: Patti has worked in various capacities in fleet management for over 30 years. She managed the Transportation Department at South Dakota State University\, held the post of Deputy State Director of Fleet and Travel Management for the State of South Dakota and is currently the Fleet Fuel Operations Specialist for Florida Power and Light. During her career\, her responsibilities have included vehicle and equipment purchasing and remarketing\, budgeting\, risk management\, fueling operations\, maintenance shop operations and aircraft operations. Patti is an active member of NAFA Fleet Management Association and is currently Immediate Past President of the Association. SUMMARY:NAFA Nation's Capital & Old Dominion: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Crash Test and Tour
DESCRIPTION:Please contact Marci McNeal\, NAFA Education Manager (Regions)\, at mmcneal@nafa.org to register for this event. This event is not open to the general public\, and therefore only fleet professionals can register. \n\n \nDon’t miss this unique event hosted by the NAFA Nation’s Capital and Old Dominion local networking groups on August 20! Attendees will get to watch and experience the crash of a brand-new vehicle\, complete with “dummies\,” all wired up to measure the crash’s impact on human beings. Get up close and personal with the changes in vehicle safety design over the decades.  \nThis year’s event will also include a short presentation on IIHS-HLDI’s vision for a 30% reduction in road deaths by 2030. The Institutes will work toward its 30×30 vision by focusing on three areas — reducing risky behavior\, accelerating commercial vehicle safety and extending safety to everyone. Accelerating commercial vehicle safety is a central component. Their goal is to encourage manufacturers to improve the safety of commercial vehicles while giving fleets the information they need to select vehicles that can help protect their drivers and the communities they serve. This year IIHS began evaluating cargo vans and Class 3 pickups\, which have a gross vehicle weight rating from 10\,001 to 14\,000 pounds. In the coming years\, the institutes plan to build on this success by testing heavier vehicles and evaluate side underride guards\, which few trailers currently have. In parallel to the vehicle testing and research that IIHS is conducting\, their sister organization\, HLDI\, has begun to curate insurance loss data for commercial vehicles to bolster research on commercial vehicle crashes and countermeasures. \nThis is a limited capacity event and once capacity has been met – no additional registrations will be available.  \nWhat:  Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Crash Test and Tour \nWhen: August 20 \nWhere: 988 Dairy Road\, Ruckersville\, VA 22968 \nTime: Please arrive by 9:30 a.m.  \nSpecial Requirement: Closed toe shoes are required to observe the crash test.
