Fleet Specialist, Konecranes, Inc. – 21 years this November
Rachel started with Konecranes processing payroll and other administrative functions, including fleet administration. “My responsibilities grew as the company grew, everything from building leases to inter-company account reconciliations,” Rachel said. “The beginning fleet size was about 150 vehicles nationwide, to a current fleet of 1,500 in the United States. Konecranes is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland with a global fleet of approximately 2,500 vehicles. Fleet is now my primary responsibility, working closely with operations, risk, and safety.
“I didn’t ‘learn’ confidence, but I obtained a well-rounded knowledge of fleet operations, and with that came confidence. There is a lot of time, effort, and energy put into the CAFM®program to insure that participants receive a quality education. It challenges participants to think through the fundamentals and build a foundation. You will find in fleet management, that it is not ‘cookie cutter,’ so you have to be adaptive and pull from your foundation and know where to find help when you need it.
“Achieving the CAFM® was more of a personal achievement goal for me. I think most of the people in the fleet industry understand the time and effort it takes to complete the program and therefore respect the accomplishment.”
