NAFA Releases Fleet Information Management Guide
ISELIN, NJ, July 10, 2006– The National Association of Fleet Administrators, Inc., (NAFA) has announced the release of its latest product offering, the Fleet Information Management Guide (CD-ROM).
The Fleet Information Management Guide is designed to assist fleet professionals in understanding the basics of data networking systems. Most organizations have plenty of information stored in their information systems, but lack the tools to properly extract, manage, or secure that information. With the Guide in hand, fleet managers do not need to be IT gurus to navigate an information system properly.
NAFA Vice President Christopher Amos, CAFM, said, “Computers are the most common and essential tool available to fleet managers, regardless of fleet type or the organization they support. Far too many fail to use their computers and the information management power they afford to their potential out of simple ignorance. The Fleet Information Management Guide is all about demystifying this technology so that fleet managers can use them more effectively and participate intelligently in decisions that effect their operations.”
Topics in the Guide include Information Infrastructure, Computer Software, Researching the Internet; Telematics; Security, Backup and Recovery; and Ergonomics.
“NAFA’s Guide is provided as a core curriculum reference for the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) program because it addresses the technology and issues that impact fleet managers without a lot of superfluous techno jargon. The Guide’s primer on computer hardware, networks and database software is a look ‘under the hood’ at the technology. This information is provided to help understand how to apply the technology to better manage the fleet. It was written and edited by fleet managers for fleet managers to make them more effective,” Amos added.
The Guide is available to NAFA Members and Affiliates for $149.99 U.S./$169.98 Canada. Non-members can purchase it for $199.99 U.S./$219.98 Canada. NAFA’s Fleet Information Management Guide can be ordered at www.nafa.org/store.
The National Association of Fleet Administrators, Inc. (NAFA) is a not-for-profit, individual membership professional society serving the needs of Members who manage fleets of automobiles, SUVs, trucks, vans and a wide range of specialized mobile equipment for organizations in the United States and Canada.
