NAFA Event Chairs Welcome FMI-LEG Attendees
Orlando, FL May 5, 2006–The National Association of Fleet Administrators, Inc., is holding its Fleet Management Institute and Law Enforcement Group Conference at the GaylordPalmsResort & ConferenceCenterin Orlandofrom May 6-9, 2006.
John Alley, chair of NAFA’s 2006 Curriculum Committee, commented, “I love the location in 2006. It’s a great layout. It’s a family setting and offers the potential to vacation before or after the sessions.”
Jon Crull, CAFM, chair of the Arrangements Committee, said, “We’ve arranged a ‘meet and greet’ at the OrlandoAirport, and people will be positioned at the baggage area of the airport to meet our visitors. On top of that initial greeting, there will be a welcome desk at the hotel similar to the set-up to the Gaylord Texan in 2005. “
He added, “The spouse room will be open from Friday through Tuesday, and we expect it to be a bit bigger than in Dallasbecause this is Orlandoand we anticipate attendees to bring their families along for the fun.”
Phil Russo, CAE, executive director of NAFA, gave several recommendations to FMI-LEG attendees to get the most from their four days in Orlando:
- Develop a list of up to five questions that, if answered, would make your conference attendance worthwhile.
- Attend the conference for those “back home.” Take notes, swap business cards, and consider how you can take advantage of resources to help someone back home.
- See speakers as resources and long-term colleagues, not just talking heads. Ask the presenter for advice and recommendations.
- Since attendees can’t be at every session and learn every bit of news and information, learn by proxy. In other words: Network, network, network.
